1. The golden rule: Renting will always be better than buying
Think about it for a moment. Does it make sense to buy dozens of tables, chairs and tablecloths for a two-day conference, and then have them gathering dust in a warehouse (or worse, throw them away)? The foundation of any truly sustainable event is the circular economy. By choosing rental, you drastically minimise the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing and transporting new products. We take care of maintenance, cleaning and storage for all the equipment, making sure every item is used to its full potential for years. It’s a smart way to reduce waste and optimise the company’s budget.
2. Goodbye to “single-use”: Dress your table responsibly
If there’s something that especially frustrates me at a corporate event, it’s a mountain of plastic plates and single-use cutlery overflowing from the bins. Not only is it an ecological disaster, it also damages the host company’s brand image. A business lunch or a corporate cocktail deserves a presentation that matches the occasion. Today we have wonderful options for every style. I invite you to take a look at our tableware rental options. You can go for clean, modern lines, or for more rustic and organic-style tableware that conveys that connection with nature. Using ceramic, porcelain and glass not only prevents plastic waste, it also instantly elevates the perceived quality of your event.3. Furniture with purpose and character
When designing spaces, furniture plays a key role. To reduce environmental impact, I recommend choosing pieces made from noble, long-lasting materials such as wood, iron or rattan, moving away from short-lived plastics. In our furniture for companies section, we offer natural wood chairs, sturdy industrial-style tables and chillout-style sofas—perfect for creating relaxed networking areas. By using this kind of furniture, you’re telling your guests that your company values solidity, quality and respect for the environment. And since we operate from our facilities in the Barcelona area, the transport impact (zero-kilometre) is much lower than if you brought infrastructure in from elsewhere.
4. Details that make a big difference
Beyond the materials and furniture we can provide, there are other actions I always recommend to my clients to make the event a sustainability success:- Local catering (Km 0): Look for suppliers that use local, seasonal ingredients. Besides supporting the local economy, the food will taste a thousand times better.
- Food waste management: Make sure you have a plan with the caterer to donate unconsumed food to local NGOs.
- Digital invitations and signage: Forget printed paper. Use event apps, QR codes on tables or projections on walls to guide attendees.
- Natural décor: Avoid balloons and plastics. Use live plants that can later be replanted or given to attendees, or seasonal flowers from local growers.
